Summer DIYs

Happy Friday Lovelies! This weekend I’m totally have a crafternoon filled with Summer DIY projects. I’m planning a trip to Lollapalloza (for those of you who don’t know, it’s a 3-day music festival in Chicago). The trip isn’t until August, but I’m already planning my outfits, obviously. On my list: the gypsy crown and the braided tank you’ll find below. Stay tuned for pictures of my creations (hopefully they’ll turn out just as good?) If you can’t tell, I’m going to for boho chic - anyone have any other DIY or outfit suggestions?

DIY Art using paper rolls - I am IN LOVE with this project. Genius AND cheap. I have all of the below at home, so I’m going to attempt to create my own masterpieces.

What’s in my bag

I just bought a new Summer bag, which means I’m decluttering the one I’ve been wearing around for the past two months. I’ve throw away smooshed pieces of gum, about 20 receipts, discovered $3.78 in loose change, and have enough hair elastics to braid pigtails on 10 girls.

Here’s what makes the cut that I must have in my bag at all times...

1. My planner. I am a scatter brain without it! This one was a gift from my mom last Christmas, and I never go anywhere without it - Filofax Osterley, found here

2. Snacks. You never know when  you’re going to be stuck somewhere or a meeting goes long. I love Larabars and Kind bars - enough protein and all natural ingredients.

3. Sunnies. These are and old pair, Halston, which I can’t seem to find anywhere.

4. Dry Shampoo - This brand is the best and found at most drugstores! With the summer humidity, I find myself doing a quick spritz with this daily.

5. Out of all beauty products, I’m most likely to splurge on mascara. This is Kat Von D’s for Sephora. I experiment a lot with mascara’s and this one is definitely one of my favorites.

6. Chanel bronzer - this comes in handy when a girlfriend texts me last minute for happy hour. I feel like I always look like I need a little glow.

7. Lipgloss and chapstick. I love this Stila one (not too much color, but a nice shine).

8. My wallet (which needs to be decluttered itself!), from Lodis. Another gift from my mom, but I like the size and texture of it.

What do you ALWAYS have in your bag?

Scallops, Prosciutto and Balsamic Grilled Peaches

I hope everyone had a wonderful weekend! It was mega hot on the east coast.

I have been holding down the fort, as Venessa is currently on a California road trip with girlfriends (how jealous are you?). Yeah, me too. She has promised to document her adventure, so stay tuned.

I threw together this salad last week, as I was craving a Summery salad that was both sweet and salty.

Prosciutto Wrapped Scallops with Grilled Balsamic Peaches on a bed of Arugula
Serves 2

6-8 scallops
1/4 pound of prosciutto (about 8 pieces)
1 large peach
1 tbsp of balsamic oil
2 tomatoes
Juice from 1/2 lemon
Salt & Pepper
A few handfuls of Arugula

For the peaches, I heated a medium skillet on high. I added the peaches and balsamic oil (face side down), and grilled for about 5 minutes.

For the scallops, I wrapped each scallop with a piece of prosciutto and squeezed lemon juice over each one. I placed them on a large skillet over medium heat and grilled on each side for about 3 minutes.

I threw together all of the ingredients, and voila! I didn’t need any dressing since the balsamic oil on the peaches was enough. I did add some lemon juice and salt and pepper to taste.

YUM!

Happy Monday!
