Random Facts About Me

Another hectic week comes to an end. Happy Friday! I am catching up on blogs today and excited to read and see what everyone has been up to. After reading a post by bloggers Two Birds (found here), I have been thinking a lot about WHY I read the blogs that I do, and even more so, why I continue to return. I love learning more about you, even though I don’t technically “know” you. I thought I would take some time to answer some questions so you can learn more about me...

What Makes Me Happy:
Enjoying a day outside with best friends. Catching up with girlfriends at Brunch on Sundays sharing weekend recaps (over bloody marys and mimosas of course). A hug from my mom. A phone date with a faraway friend. My dad’s pancakes when I’m visiting home. Airports because I’m going on an adventure. Dog parks. Swimming in the ocean and salt drying on my skin. Fireworks. Live music outside in the Summer.

My Dream Travel Destination:
I studied abroad in Florence, Italy in college and also backpacked Europe but I have been yearning to go back to the mountains of Switzerland or the wineries of Tuscany. My next trip will be either to Peru or Greece - two destinations that are on my bucket list.

Awkwardness:
When you have a heartfelt and long goodbye with someone, you leave and then realize you forgot something, so you have that awkward goodbye all over again.

My Fears:
Ten years from now and feeling like I have regrets. I think about that a lot and it's why I often take risks and do things and don’t consider the consequeneces. Although irresponsible, I would rather live this way than play it safe. Other fears include: sea creatures in the ocean or walking around the ocean floor when you can’t see bottom (I swear, something is going to eat me), staring contests with cats, and non-enclosed heights.

My Favorite Music:
I’m a huge IndieRock fan. My favorite bands include Guster, Ben Folds, Band of Horses, Arctic Monkeys, Best Coast, Birds and the Bees, The Decemberists and The Black Keys. I LOVE making friends mixes and sharing the love of a good band. And, oddly, I have a thing for folk or celtic music  - The fiddle is my favorite instrument.

Ten Years From Now:
A few years ago, I would have told you married with children. Ideally, yes, I would like for those things to happen, but I think I’m OK if they don’t. I would like own my own home, have something published - be it a short story or novel, and ultimately, be comfortable with where I am at in my life and in my own skin.

I hope you have a WONDERFUL weekend.

My Wedding Album (Part 1)

My precious new niece and flowergirl, Sophie Bean!
Paul sent me this video the night before our wedding.

I stayed up until 2 AM last night because I just got in the first batch of wedding photos from my amazing, ever-so-talented photographer Alex Wasilewski How could I possibly sleep knowing these were in my inbox?! There are quite a few shots I'd like to share, so I'm pacing myself. Here's Part 1, just hours before the ceremony began . . .
Most of our guests stayed elsewhere, but Paul and I wanted to spend our wedding night at the beautiful Boca Raton Resort & Spa. I had a suite for two nights. The first night I packed in all my bridesmaids and the second night, well, I kicked everyone out. I woke up like every hour on the dot. The first time, I look down at my phone and I see a text from Paul. He said: "I can't sleep. Today we're getting married!" I remember Alex Domination (bf and chef extraordinaire) finally yelling at me to get a grip and go to sleep. I tried, I really did.

My bridesmaids went above and beyond for me, so I knew I needed to do something extravagant for them to thank them for putting up with me over the last year and a half. I kicked them out (obv. my MO) and set up breakfast, their robes, mini personal champagne bottles and a few other goodies.

I had bracelets made for each girl at the Brooklyn Charm Shop in Williamsburg, so I draped them around the necks.

Jumping on the bed pic, check!

I've known most of these ladies for the majority of my life. Enormous wedding party, yes, but there was no way I was cutting this down. They've been by my side for decades.

My beautiful mother is in the middle and her sisters are at our side. I really think of them as my sisters.

Love this photo!
My friends look like they belong in a magazine.

 Pretty little details . . .

Paul, my husband (still giddy saying that),
reading a note from me that came with his present.

My something borrowed was my mother's veil.

I had this handkerchief embroidered
(Inspired Stitches on Etsy) for my dad
and I gave my mom this Swarorvski crystal ring. It was the least I could do to thank them for making our wedding
the best night we ever had.
