5 DIY Projects

Too cold to venture out this weekend? I think so too! Crafternoon? Yes, please! I will immerse myself this weekend with glue guns, glitter, mason jars and thrift store finds. I feel the craft gods calling my name and my creative juices are starting to flow!

Here are five fun DIY projects... a little friday treat!

1. DIY glass ware. I often see an assortment of wine glasses at the goodwill and thrift stores for a $1. Adding gold or chalkboard paint can pull the random glasses into a nice collection.

2. Polaroid magnets. Genius and so fun!

3. DIY Mason Jar Projects. Have some extra jars lying around? Turn them into vases or candles, or let me them help you organize your bathroom.

4. DIY scratch tickets. I think this is so cute, unique, and fun. This could work for valentines day, a friend's birthday or a bachelorette party... I'm definitely doing this!

5. A vintage sign. This is a great tutorial using stencils, paint & modpodge...

Enjoy!

How do you feel about...

Striped walls? Too much? I really love stripes (in clothes, my furniture, on my walls!). I can't wait to own a house one day so I can go crazy with my walls...

Recap on my Detox

I just completed a five day detox - go me! I have received a few emails from friends and bloggers requesting more information on my detox, so I thought I would make an "official" blog post.

After the holidays, I was in a mega slump, feeling so unmotivated to work out and to actually get off my couch and out of my apartment! This is so not me. I did a ton of research on cleanses and weighed the pros, cons, and health benefits of all of them. I found this Battle of the New Year's Cleanses and was seriously intrigued. However, I was not willing to pay over $100 on a kit when I could put in a little time and energy in researching and creating my own. So, this is what happened...

For breakfast and dinner, I drank a green smoothie. It really turned out delicious (I promise!)

Recipe:
-A handful or two of fresh spinach
-1 banana (preferably frozen)
-Around 10 strawberries
-1 cup of almond milk (or soy)
Add all to a food processor and blend until smooth.

*I added water and ice depending on thickness and amended to my preference.
**I also added ground flax seed for some added fiber and calories.
***Add whatever fruit you want. I added blueberries one day and it was still so yummy.

For lunch I ate raw, organic, fruits and vegetables. To work, I threw in SO many fruits for a fruit salad and zip locked cucumbers, carrots and celery.

In addition to meals, I made sure to add supplements and vitamins:
-Multi vitamin
-Milk Thistle
-Pro-biotic
-Fish Oil

The hardest part, believe it or not, wasn't the meals. It was the NO COFFEE! I swapped my java for cups of green tea (hot and filling, yes, but definitely not coffee).

Other helpful tips:
Make sure you plan all of your meals. Create a grocery list before you go to the store and stock up on produce. Also make sure you are adamant at taking vitamins.

The results of my detox?
-I lost seven pounds total.
-My skin looks the best it has in years, no joke.
-It gave me the motivation and energy I was looking for to get myself back on track in the gym and motivated in general.

Overall... Success! If you do one, please let me know how it goes!

From MY Couture Fairy Godmother

A coworker and friend of mine, Julie, has someone she calls her Couture Fairy Godmother. What is a Couture Fairy Godmother, you ask? Someone in the fashion industry who has sample size items of designer brands at their fingertips. I wish I could tell you where to get one of these fairies, but just like any fairy godmother, they come to you when you least expect it.

Right around Christmas, I got a call from mine--Julie! Julie received an Alberta Ferretti Black Wool Coat from her Couture Fairy Godmother and decided to give it to me!!!!!

Best. Christmas. Present. Ever (aside from the 1920s typewriter my parents gave me, of course). Couture Fairy Godmother Julie, if you're listening, I promise I gave my AF a good home. Proof of it here! We're in love <3

Julie is a culinary genius who has an awesome food blog called La Petite Gourmess. I've gotten many of recipes from this little lady. Find out what's she's making tonight!
