Move Downtown & DIY Print

I am an official TriBeCa resident! Over labor day, I moved from my apartment on the Upper East Side to my new downtown ‘hood. I’ve been decorating, organizing, cleaning, and settling in before I shared pictures with you all. My bedroom is still a work in progress, but here is a sneak peek (PLUS a DIY project!)

My bedroom mess the first night (EEK!) BEFORE:

After:

I was gathering ideas and deciding on what I wanted to hang above my bed. I found this lyric, and knew I wanted to use it: It’s been a hard day’s night. I should be sleeping like a log.

Because I didn’t want to wait to find the perfect print, I decided to make my own. I went to a local craft store first to figure out the size of the frame I would use. I searched through various matts and frames but  it was getting a little pricy. I finally found a great size frame (WITH A MATT!) on the clearance rack (SCORE!). I repainted the outside of the frame and I was good to go.

I then downloaded a few fonts from dafont.com and played around with the image in photoshop. It was super easy (tip: make sure you create your image 300 dpi and are using inches instead of pixels so that it matches your matt size).

I then ordered the print from a local print shop. In total, this project cost me $30.

After I had my picture read to be hung, I was at my local Barnes & Noble and saw a wooden sign that read: It’s been a hard day’s night and I’ve been working like a dog. HOW PERFECT and random, right?! So, now I have both hanging above my bed, and I love it.

The best part about my bedroom? Hands down, the views. I have a balcony outside my bedroom which I eat breakfast on, sip tea, read a book, and enjoy the evening’s sunsets.

I’m a happy girl in my new home!
