Someone is going to SantaCon . . .

That's right, today is SantaCon 2011 and there's nothing I want more than to prance around the streets of New York wearing a fluffy white tutu and a little top hat. What's SantaCon, you ask?

"Santacon is a non-denominational, non-commercial, non-political and non-sensical Santa Claus convention that occurs once a year for absolutely no reason."

And I love it! See Chef Domination and I down below
(last year was our first hooray).

Keeping the tradition alive, I will actually be wearing my little red riding hood costume from college that functions as a Mrs. Clause suit just fine. Alex is wearing my Harry Potter costume, functioning as one of Santa's little elves. If you want to know where we are today, I'll be tweeting our location (but please, no creepsters). I must go because Alex wants to kill me. It's 9:30 a.m. and we're already late!

Now, which one of you lovely readers elves will be participating in Santa's reindeer games?

P.S. I'm peer pressuring the crap out of Julia right now to join us. Help me try and harass her into coming! : )

Gettin' Organized

Happy Friday pretties! What is everyone doing this weekend? I have a fun filled weekend ahead, but, I am in desperate need to get my apartment organized. I have clothes everywhere, laundry to be done and put away, a closet filled with junk, and the list goes on! But hey...

I really admire people who can stay organized at all times. I wish that some of spaces looked like:

Our friend Julia (another Julia) also passed along this Tumblr, Things Organized Neatly. It is, as it says, items that are organized, well, neatly. They are perfect... I want to go in those photos and mess 'em up!

Have a wonderful and cozy weekend!

Homemade Holiday Cards

Now that I realize Christmas is just 18 days away, I'm headed to the craft store-->wine store-->my gf Hilary's apartment to make homemade holiday cards, catch up on the Real Housewives (feel free to judge me if you'd like), and bake Hershey Kiss cookies! These babies right here:

Number one rule: DO NOT go into a craft store without a plan. I've learned my lesson a million times over, which explains why I own a skeleton key hole puncher and not a glue gun + other essentials.

Since I'm being responsible this time, I've done my research and I have a list of items in mind to pick up (as always, a btl of wine is on this list). Here are a few DIY holiday card ideas I found, worth sharing. Why don't you . . .

Keep It Green

Just use markers and call it a day

Wrap it up like a present

Use a doily as a stencil

Or in my case, finally give a family member
a copy of your engagement photos
Street Cred

Not a crafty girl or gent?
Send a special video from Santa (FYI, this is pretty f'ing hilarious). Check out the one I made for Julia: http://www.portablenorthpole.tv/watch/mCxGaJ3UcWKyS_qaNCt371g

What to Wear When It's 60 degrees in December . . . in NYC . . . wtf?

I'm not really complaining as much as I am in utter disbelief that it's this temperature in the northeast right now. Perhaps this is why I haven't come to terms with the fact that Christmas is a few weeks away (I haven't sent Xmas cards, booked my flight for home, thought about presents. I'm a mess). I've been up here for, what, close to 4 years now, and every year at this time I'm slushing around the city in my Hunter boots, watching out our office window as the snowflakes fall down on all the crazy tourists in Rockefeller Center. Not this year. I left yoga in a T-Shirt last night, a freakin T-Shirt! I feel like I'm back in Florida now.

So, what does one wear when it's Christmastime and 60 degrees outside? It's a hard thing to deal with, I know. Thanks to my fashion designer bf Natalia, this dress from Juicy Couture was a perfect solution:

Christmas Party Dresses!

I'm on the hunt for a Christmas party cocktail dress. Enough with the ugly sweater party invites (Ok, I AM shopping for those too... GoodWill here I come!) On a different note, here are some dresses that I have my eye on that are GORGEOUS and festive. If only my pockets were deep enough for the Sass & Bide feather dress (sigh)!
