Jewelry Display

I have been searching for a fun, creative, and unique way to display my jewels. After browsing pinterest for hours, reading endless DIY blogs  (and of course, I couldn't forget my inspiration from my partner Venessa's DIY post on her branch jewelry display), I decided to hang my necklaces on hooks (see below).  I have as many beads as Miss Lippy in Billy Madison, so I wanted to organize them and have them accessible.

I bought these hooks from Urban Outfitters. You can find the branch ones here

Here are some other fun ideas for display:

Hung cutlery trays (genius!)

I LOVE this. I'm digging the brach theme.

Old rake

Oh, it's on boys & girls!

The Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest in Brooklyn!

Last year Paul and I had a pumpkin carving contest in our living room and had our Facebook friends determine the winner . . .

Clearly the winner was ME (Jack from a Nightmare Before Christmas)!

Now this year, Paul wants to redeem himself, Julia wants in on it too, and I want to kick ass yet again.

SO . . .
The Annual Pumpkin Carving Contest will carry on yet again in Brooklyn, but this time it's going to be BIG . . . hopefully.

Julia and I (and everyone else I knew in the city) are going to invite everyone they know in the city (so maybe we'll have 10 people by then) to meet on Sunday at 4:30 pm in Prospect Park to carve and ask YOU to judge!

Now I just have to put my money where my mouth is.
Should I go Pretty or Pretty Deranged?

Here's what Martha would do:

I'm back, ya'll!

Yup, I was gone for the last 5 days or so and Julia was holdin' down the fort. I was in a place that's grown near and dear to my heart . . .
N'awlins!

Paul (fiance) is from there, so we went for his bro's wedding (pics coming soon since I planned the shower), but now I'm back in the NYC and missing that southern hospitality (can you tell?) So please, sip on some sweet tea and indulge with me while I ramble on about pretty southern things.

I could listen to this all day long . . .

Jessy Carolina and the Hot Mess

(formally known as the Bill Murray Experience)

I first saw this band in Union Square and randomly again in Brooklyn.
So freakin awesome. Sure they sound like they belong
in the Big Easy, but we got em here in NYC!

Part of me wanted our wedding to be in a barn . . .

I mean, wouldn't you looking at this?
But I'm happy where we're getting married.
(The Addison, in case you were wondering. Check it out here!)

One day I'll have a home like this . . .

A wrap-around porch and a view of the water. Done and done.

You better believe my sweet tea
(often spiked) come in mason jars . . .

An idea if you are entertaining, i mean, if you didn't already
make them into soap dispensers.

What's your southern comfort?

NYC Flowers

There are a few things in NYC that are relatively inexpensive: taxis, manicures, and fresh flowers. I walk past many flower shops everyday, and yesterday I caved and bought four bouquets.

Hangover Fashion

This morning I woke up after a late night filled with cocktails and dancing and quickly realized I needed an extra large coffee. It took a lot of motivation to actually step out of my apartment. As I was walking out, I caught a glimpse of myself, and just started laughing. I was a disheveled mess (a hot mess if you will). I looked like I was on my way to 5th grade band practice- I actually had a pair of these sweatpants on. Remember those? Champion brand if you were wondering. Yes, not pretty.

I was then inspired to write a post dedicated to hangover fashion. No one wants to actually get dressed when hungover (I pat myself on the back if I actually put on a pair of jeans!) Below is the perfect ensemble when you have that raging headache and 'I need to have a Keeping up with the Kardashians marathon all day' attitude.

Soft velvet leggings with elastic waist (keyword: elastic waist)

The biggest pair of sunglasses you can find

A comfy, cozy, ovesized sweater

A hip pair of kicks

And my beverage of choice.
Other options: bloody marys, mimosas, blue gatorade, etc.

What's your go-to hangover outfit?
