Tada!

OK, so this may not be pretty . . .

But I have a wedding I am in this weekend and my dress is tight tight tight. I need damage control right now, so I'm going to start this diet today. Wish me luck. I feel like I'm going to turn into super bitch, but hopefully feel good come next Saturday. Good thing Paul is leaving tomorrow. He'll miss the starving witch come out of me.

I'll let you know how it goes . . .

DIY Inspirational Quote

I have art ADD. Even when I absolutely LOVE something, I am usually tired of it in a few months. This disorder, unfortunately, is hard on my wallet as I am always crafting, painting, or BUYING art. While obsessing one day with inspirational quotes on pinterest , I decided I wanted to paint a quote to hang on my wall, where I could wake up and say "you go girl!" as I left my apartment. I had limitations in choosing a quote- I didn't want a "Live.Laugh.Love" type quote, or a "Love conquers all" type either. I decided on the below. This project was beyond easy.

What I used:
-A blank canvas (I chose a black one)
-Stencils
-Painter's tape
-Acrylic paint
-Paint brush (I used a square ridged one, as I think they're easier to work with to get symmetrical letters)

Preparing the canvas:

Observing my work or art (the letters were a bit messy, but I blame that on the bottle of wine Venessa and I shared).

The final product (which hangs near my bedroom door, so I truly get that 'you go girl' attitude)

I'm movin' in!

My coworker Julie and fellow blogger at La Petite Gourmess shared this video. Her husband works at Esquire and spent all week in this $23.5 million dollar apartment in Brooklyn. I've seen the outside of the building (because how can you miss that gigantic clock) several times and always wondered what this apartment looked like on this inside. Thanks for making my dream come true, Julie! Now what do I have to do to see this in person?!?!

Suede Shoes Love

After living on the West Coast for the past few Fall/Winter seasons, I am eager to purchase as many festive finds as I can. This includes leather boots, cashmere scarves, and my new love, suede shoes.  I have a love for shoes, but, what girl doesn't? Here are some favorite suede shoe finds.

And this was my purchase. After finding these royal blue dream of shoes, I had to have them.
Aldo, $90

I got a style assignment, yeah yeah yeah yeah

My lovely friend Meredith is digging Lauren Conrad's fancy pants polo look (and I am too) but she and I need real-life alternatives. Mer has given me an assignment (love it!) to track down similar pieces to recreate this ensemble (but for way way less). Feel free to do the same! This kind of homework I can get used to . . .

Here's the look we're going for:

Tonight, let's focus on Lauren's look:

1. You'll need a sheer button-down blouse.
How's this one? Color: Conch

Right now there's a Buy 1,
Get 1 50% off deal. Score!

2.   High-waisted cream shorts.
Here's a Rugby pair on sale!

3. Sexy black wedges with ankle straps.
I'm aware these are different, but they are suede and oh so pretty.
Plus, they are way better for the Fall. Right?

Buy this Nine West pair here - $99

So how'd I do? You know, grade-wise . . . ?

Tune in next week probably tomorrow for Lo's look.

Flea Market Finds

When it comes to decorating and my wardrobe, I love the mix of old and new things. Vintage finds provide so much character. Recently, my mom and I headed to a New England flea market, where my innate gift for bargain hunting was in full force.

vintage moccasins, bought a pair for $10.

A tempting buy because it's just too precious. No, I did not buy this, but would be pretty amazing to take this to central park one day for a spin.

Venessa's post on vanity trays inspired my obsession for old perfume bottles. I bought this one for $3!

Men's Bomber jacket, $20

This rack was filled with 1940's vintage coats that were flippin amazing. I ended up buying a coat for $5 (missing buttons but that can easily be fixed) and that vintage Louis Vuitton bag from the 1950s, for $50. STEAL!

only my favorite band here in Brooklyn :

Pearl and the Beard
I am such a groupie, I have to admit. I've been following them around
for what, 3 years now? And at first there was only a handful of people in the audience. Now their shows are ridiculously crowded.
You'll understand why . . .

Look what I found . . .

Do you hear angels singing? I do!

Yes I made Paul carry this found treasure five blocks against his will.
"And it wasn't light!" he's yelling right now.

But come on, wouldn't you take this home with you?
I agree, not the ideal location for the door in the apartment,
but I will make do. There was no way I was leaving this baby behind.

I call this manicure style . . .

Chanel

Different, yes. But I'm diggin it.
Now I just have to be a big girl and keep in on for more than 2 days.
